The Traitors
Based on the globally popular, Emmy-winning hit TV series “The Traitors,” you work together as a group to collect as much silver as possible by playing various games and solving puzzles. But one of you is a traitor who wants to keep all the silver for themselves. Will the group succeed in unmasking the traitor, or will the traitor escape with all the silver?
The Traitors FAQ
You step into the X-Cube, a room equipped with screens, controllers with buttons, a touch screen, and various (light) effects. When the game starts, the narrator guides you through the experience, explaining everything along the way. You play the game using the touch screen, the controllers, and—most importantly—each other. The game has a clear ending, and after about an hour, you step back outside
The game consists of a maximum of four game days. Each game day, a murder takes place. During breakfast, it becomes clear who has been killed.
After that, the whole group plays a mission together to earn silver. Sometimes, daggers or shields can be obtained, which later provide advantages to their owners.
During the Round Table, the group discusses who the traitor might be, and a vote is held in which the group tries to banish the traitor.
If they fail, they at least know that player wasn’t the traitor.
If they succeed, and the game isn’t over yet, a new traitor is assigned.
Either way, the net closes in on the traitor(s).
The final banishment determines who wins the game: the Traitor(s) or the Faithful.
-
Faithful: These are the players working together to unmask the Traitor to win.
-
Traitor: This is someone secretly trying to avoid being unmasked (banished). If the Traitor makes it to the end of the game without being banished, they win.
-
Banished: During the Round Table discussion, all players (except a murdered player) vote on who they think the Traitor is and want to banish.
-
Murdered player: The Traitor gets to choose another player to “murder” a few times during the game. A murdered player must sit out one Round Table vote.
-
Dagger: Players can earn a dagger during the game. A dagger gives a player one extra vote at the Round Table.
-
Shield: Sometimes a shield can be earned. A shield protects the player from being murdered once.
Of course, unlike on TV, we can’t immediately send home every murdered or banished player. All players remain in the game until the end and participate in all missions. Being murdered does have consequences, but they’re only temporary.
If a Traitor is banished early in the game, we simply assign a new one. That way, the game stays exciting right up to the end.
No, the Traitor does not sabotage. During the missions, everyone benefits from earning as much silver as possible. What really matters is who remains in the end. If the (last) Traitor is not unmasked by the end of the game, they win.
No. You continue playing. Being murdered does have consequences, but they’re only temporary.
Then either you or the game will appoint a new Traitor.
It’s helpful if you bring at least one working phone (with internet and camera). It’ll come in handy for setting the players names and choosing their emblems.
Absolutely! The Traitors is a social game, so it will never play out the same way twice. The solutions to all missions are randomly generated each time. You’ll likely need less explanation and complete the missions a bit faster, but you’ll still need to perform. Book now
We don’t want to give too much away, but here are a few tips:
-
You’ll always need to adapt your strategy based on your fellow players, how well you know them, and the situation at hand.
-
Adjust your thinking as the game progresses: She wasn’t the Traitor—so maybe what she said wasn’t so crazy after all?
-
Most importantly, pay close attention to how everyone behaves, and whether they’re acting differently than usual. Then ask yourself: Why? Are they the Traitor, or do they know something?
